Revery: A state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.
Road: A hard flat surface for vehicles, people, and animals to travel on; a process or a course of action that leads to a certain result.
My Story
Words have meaning and power.
I came up with the name Revery Road because I believe that life is meant to be lived in tension, and with the discomfort of paradox. Our imaginations are gifts and we are often too quick to discount our dreams and desires as childish whims as we get on the road of life driving 100 mph, trying to get ahead. The ideal tension is where we allow ourselves the time and space to dream yet stay on the practical road. The result is that our dreams can become reality. The road is concrete both literally and figuratively. However, if the pendulum swings completely and life is lived absolutely in a state of revery, with no forward progress on a road, life becomes passive and one tends toward procrastination.
Revery Road is meant to describe an ideal way of living life daily, where time is given to both daydreaming and forward progress through practical actions. Life is enjoyed along the way, not just when certain milestones are met. Sometimes we need to pop open the champagne because we made it through Tuesday.
I Am....
My name is Karen Schneider and I am an artist living in Virginia.
The idea for the clothing and accessories line came about out of a painful season where I was dealing with some challenging health issues. As a result, I was battling depression and in an awful boomerang cycle of insomnia and not wanting to get out of bed when I was able to sleep. Facing every day was hard. Through this process I rediscovered the power of declaration and positive confessions. Again, words matter and have power.
T-shirts
I wanted a t-shirt that simply said “Brave” on the front. I needed to be brave in this season and I would tell myself to be brave. I would say out loud, “I am brave!” I could not find such a shirt, so I decided to make one myself.
I hope my designs provide encouragement along your own “Revery Road.”
